Capillary flaw detection is a complex of operations to identify hidden and minor flaws based on the action of indicator fluids. Capillary control, or control by penetrating substances, is recognized as one of the most sensitive and informative methods of non-destructive testing.
Capillary control can be used to check objects of almost any size, shape and materials in almost all areas of industry from energy to the construction of nuclear reactors. Non-destructive testing by penetrating substances is also used to establish leakproofness violations. For some materials, this method of non-destructive testing is the only means of diagnosing quality compliance.
Due to the use of specific materials and equipment, capillary control is regulated by State Standard 18442-80 «Non-destructive testing. Capillary methods. General requirements».
